Learning the Rhythms
Page Two - Patterns Three and Four
If trial and error - that is, just having a go - doesn't work, get methodical and study-and-tap the together-left-right (TLR) structure of the patterns before breaking into the actual practice-speed performance.
We tap-and-play in 'straight quavers' first, then with the "shuffle feel".
Tap the TLR pattern before you try to keep up with the video.
You don't have to be up to speed or even in rhythm - just get your muscles comfortable with it.
Now put your 'swing quaver'/'shuffle feel' in.
Try 'saying' (singing!) the T-L-R pattern as you rehearse the tapping. New challenge!
Really only a hint of a shuffle feel in this last one.
Now go on to the first two patterns performance page.
