Musicarta Beat & Rhythm Workbook
Rhythmic Pentatonic Scales
Learning the Rhythms
Page One - Patterns One and Two
If trial and error - that is, just having a go - doesn't work, get methodical and study-and-tap the together-left-right (TLR) structure of the patterns before breaking into the actual practice-speed performance.
We tap-and-play in 'straight quavers' first, then with the "shuffle feel".
Download the music for the 6-8 tapping section here.
Start right hand near middle C.
Watch the video once, then study the TLR diagram below and tap it before you play the video again.
Get the tapping right before you attempt the notes.
Now put your 'swing quaver'/'shuffle feel' in.
You can try short-cutting the process, but if it doesn't work, go straight back to the method for Pattern One.
Now put your shuffle feel in.
Now go on to the next tapping exercises page.
