Musicarta Beat & Rhythm Workbook
Snake Dance Series
Flapping Fifths 2
We're starting this session with the 'staggered fifth' variation from the 'Left Hand off the Beat lesson.
Watch the video.
Here's an ultra-relaxed version showing the left hand rotation movement.
The focus in this lesson, though, is to work on your stamina and speed - just like an athlete! It's important to push your comfort envelope a bit, not least because a lot of these rhythms - like aeroplanes - only really 'take off' at a certain speed.
Here's an up-to-speed performance of the previous version.
'Snap' that flapping fifth down like your winning domino!
More difficult is to alternate up-down/down-up but in snapped quavers.
This too should go a little - or a lot - faster than the demo version.
Here's a medley version combining the two directions.
Mister Musicarta loses track of the up/down alternation in the RH-under second half. Did you spot that?
Next up, speed it up with Flapping Quavers.
