Chord - 'Majestic River' - Study
Module Seven: Practicing the B Strain
Here's the module reference performance. (That 'reference' means 'just for your information, for now'. You're not expected to be able to play it - yet!)
The MS is at the end of the page, and in your workbook. Plus, there is a fingering tweak to come.
The videos in this module are a demonstration of how you should practice/learn this new material. Work through the series as many times as it takes to get a fluid final performance.
First, play through the chord sequence in 'block chords' - all notes at once - at your own pace, clarifying which notes you're going to play with which fingers.
Here are keyboard diagrams for the B strain.
Now use rhythmic Pattern One to play through the chords. Enjoy the opportunity to play through the chords - try to be inspired. Many famous hits have been based on little more than a performance like this!
Now use rhythmic Pattern Two to play through the chord sequence. This pattern demands a slightly quicker change of hand position. Draw on your learning and concentration to make every attempt count.
We can fix the right hand fingering to make getting to the next chord a bit easier.
Here's a demonstration video.
That will result in this performance. Watch the fingering - it's what you're supposed to do, ideally.
Next, go on to Module Eight, where you put your first full-length performance together.
