In this module reference, we put together our first and second eight-bar 'strains' - plus an impressive ending - for a first performance.

You can hear that it's an 'AABA'-type structure - where 'A' is 'the first eight bars/strain' and 'B' is 'the other eight bars/strain'.

In fact, it's AABAA with an extended ending - plus a couple of extra bars thrown in stop the eight bar phrase length getting too monotonous.

The ending

Every performance deserves a good ending. It's the last thing you play, after all. A performance with an impressive ending sounds a hundred times better than a performance, however good, which just dribbles to a halt.
